Sean Kearney joins Compass after an illustrious coaching career that spanned east to west over four decades. The journey began with much fanfare while an assistant at Providence College and an appearance in the 1987 Final Four. The bulk of his seasons came as an assistant at Delaware, Notre Dame and Colorado. He served as Head Coach at Holy Cross and had brief stops at Philadelphia Textile and Northwestern as well. He played a role in the development of several NBA players over the years, most recently with Colorado players Derrick White (Boston Celtics) and Spencer Dinwiddie (Dallas Mavericks). Including the Final Four run, Kearney’s teams have secured four conference championships and participated in twelve NCAA Tournaments.
In addition to his coaching experience, he has also spent time in conference administration and both radio and television broadcasting. Kearney was the associate commissioner for men’s basketball at the Atlantic 10 Conference, working with the NCAA national office on broad issues and similarly with the league’s media partners. He has also served as a color analyst on various broadcasts for both ESPN and the CBS Sports Network.
